72) The SembCorp Cool House in The National Orchid Garden

The SembCorp Cool House in The National Orchid Garden, is really a Cool Place to Visit, with its cool air, drifting mist and waterfall. Especially on a hot day, which means almost everyday.

It is a Sustainable Botanical Glasshouse that is filled with rare orchids. It has more than 1,000 orchid species and hybrids, curated according to five biogeographical regions – Malesia, continental Southeast Asia and South Asia, Australasia, Afrotropics and the Neotropics, for you to enjoy.

Phalaenopsis orchids, also known as moth orchids, are popular for their long-lasting flowers and relatively easy care. The Sembcorp Cool House, designed to mimic a high-elevation montane forest, provides an ideal environment for these and other rare orchids that thrive in cooler temperatures. The cool and humid conditions within the Cool House, maintained between 16 to 23 degrees Celsius, allow visitors to appreciate the beauty of orchids like this Phalaenopsis, which might not typically flourish in Singapore's tropical climate.
